Since our last newsletter, we have concluded the Intelligent Briefing process and collated the feedback from the events with the pupils, staff, parents and the community. The initial design concepts for the new Community Hub are now complete.
We have updated the project website with further details on our journey to date in developing proposals for the Community Hub which can be viewed here:
This will be updated regularly with progress and future events associated with the Orbiston Community Hub.
In partnership with Hub South West, Morgan Sindall have now been appointed as the preferred contractor to deliver the new Orbiston Community Hub alongside North Lanarkshire Council and the design team.
The design of the Orbiston Community Hub is currently on track to deliver the council’s first fully electric Town and Community Hub development which represents a significant and fundamental step for NLC in their path towards Net Zero. This Hub will deliver on average a 90% reduction in carbon emissions and 60% reduction in energy consumption, compared to the estimated performance of the existing Lawmuir and Sacred Heart Primary schools.
During the Intelligent Brief sessions there was space allocated for a partnership zone within this hub for specific use by Police Scotland. Unfortunately, following discussions with Police Scotland they are unable to commit to this project at this time and as a result the design will be updated, removing this ‘dedicated space’ within the hub. The revised design will be available to view and comment during the PAN consultation events that are currently being arranged for May during the standard statutory pre-planning process.
- Further Survey Investigation works on site are scheduled between 9th and 12th March.
- PAN notice submitted to North Lanarkshire Council’s Planning Department.
- Statutory Planning consultation events planned for May 2022. These will be in person and digital with details to follow.
